Large Format Retail Association AGM and networking event wrap up 2024

Earlier this month on Wednesday 13 November, the Large Format Retail Association held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was followed by a cocktail and networking event to wrap up 2024.

The AGM was a key moment to reflect on the year’s achievements and chart the course for the future. CEO Philippa Kelly highlighted the value of collaboration and innovation in her address, stating, “The strength of the Large Format Retail Association lies in the passion and expertise of our Board and members. Together, we are focussed on opportunities for learning, growth, and innovation.”

The AGM also marked the election of the Large Format Retail Association Board, and the re-election of four retiring directors.

The Large Format Retail Association Directors for 2025 are:

  • Zac Fried (President)| Deputy Executive Chairman, Spotlight Group
  • James Scott (Vice President) | General Manager, Property, Harvey Norman
  • Philippa Kelly | Chief Executive Officer and Company Secretary, LFRA
  • Ian Robinson, OAM (Immediate Past President) | Executive Chairman, Beacon Lighting Group
  • Garry James| Director of Property, Bunnings
  • Michael Petricevic | Managing Director, Oz Design Furniture
  • Richard Champion | General Manager, Property, Amart Furniture
  • Sam Pinchbeck | General Manager, Property & Store Development, Super Retail Group
  • Michael Cherubino | Executive Director, Adairs Retail Group
  • Philip Waterworth| Group General Manager – Property, JB Hi-Fi/The Guys
  • Rob Foley | General Manager, Property, PETstock Group

Alternate Directors are:

  • Richard O’Brien for Zac Fried, Spotlight Group
  • Brett Moody for Garry James, Bunnings; and
  • Glen Robinson for Ian Robinson, Beacon Lighting Group.

The networking event, which followed the AGM, brought Retail and Associate Members together for an evening of connection and celebration, and an opportunity to welcome new members.

President Zac Fried thanked all the members for their ongoing support, and also congratulated the Board for its unwavering commitment to advancing the interests of the sector. “Their dedication to planning, strategising, and working together has been instrumental in shaping the sector,” he said.

Zac also acknowledged the leadership of Large Format Retail Association CEO Philippa Kelly, thanking her for her efforts to steer the association forward with her tireless advocacy and work fostering strategic partnerships.

Looking ahead to 2025, and with several key events on the horizon, the Large Format Retail Association remains steadfast in its mission to collaborate with its membership—comprising Large Format Retailers, investors, owners, developers, and service suppliers—to drive innovation and enhance sustainability, and continue advocating for greater clarity, consistency in planning regimes across the country.

CEO Philippa Kelly added, “With a strong Board, a wonderful and engaged membership, and a vision for the future, the Large Format Retail Association is poised for another year of growth and success.”
