Jaycar Electronics Group acquires NZ retailer Burnsco

The Jaycar Electronics Group has agreed to acquire Burnsco, New Zealand’s leading retailer of Marine and Recreational Vehicle products.

“The Burnsco acquisition allows the Jaycar Group to extend its Marine and Outdoor expertise into New Zealand where it plans to continue to operate Burnsco as a stand-alone business utilising the existing Burnsco brands,” said Jaycar Group CEO Chris Wilesmith.

“Operations in New Zealand will continue to be overseen by the well-respected Burnsco’s executive retail management team who will report to the NZ board as well as myself.”

Burnsco has a proud 140-year history and a significant retail footprint nationwide with strategic site locations on or close to New Zealand’s largest marinas and in major retail precincts.

It has consistently exhibited strong sales growth and a profitable contribution from all its stores.

Jaycar is a market leading and highly successful electronics retailer which has been operating in Australia for over 40 years and in New Zealand for 25 years.

For the past 10 years the Jaycar Group has also operated its own complimentary leisure, marine and other outdoor products business under the Road Tech Marine banner.

This business has been growing strongly since its commencement.

The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
