Harvey Norman delivers new premium Large Format Retail to Brisbane

Brisbane’s newest home and lifestyle shopping destination, Macgregor Homemaker is now open.

Located 12km from Brisbane’s CBD and in close proximity to the M1 Pacific Motorway, Macgregor Homemaker sits in the heart of a well-established Large Format Retail Precinct with an offer that is fresh, unseen and unrivalled within this retail space.

Anchored by Harvey Norman and Domayne, Macgregor Homemaker is also home to Spotlight, Pillow Talk, Adairs, Bed Bath N’ Table, Forty Winks, Kitchen Warehouse, Carpet Call and Stellarossa Café.

The Centre softly opened on 9 September with a series of activations over several weeks, peaking on the Grand Opening Weekend of 28 and 29 September 2024.

Ahead of the Grand Opening, several Retailers held instore activations welcoming the community and showcasing their beautiful stores including Pillow Talk who gave away a Luxurious Pillow to the first 100 customers, provided a fresh juice cart, and handed out sweet treats. Customers also took advantage of the 20% off full price offer, which was extended for the weekend.

Spotlight launched with a Grand Opening Sale, an appearance from Celebrity Chef Manu Feildel and the B105 Street Team. Customers were treated to free ice-cream, fairy floss, balloon twister and a magician. Customers lined up prior to the early opening with the first 100 receiving a free pillow.

Retailers supported the opening celebrations with activations and exclusive instore offers, including Kitchen Warehouse with a Housewarming Party, welcoming customers with champagne, exclusive sales, tastings and cooking demonstrations.

Harvey Norman welcomed Ariarne Titmus OAM, Australian Swimmer and Olympic Champion for a meet and greet with customers, straight off the back of her Paris 2024 Olympic success. Ariarne signed over 150 signing cards to excited fans who came to the new Harvey Norman store to meet the champion.

The Grand Opening weekend began with an Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting which was held outside Domayne and was attended by key Harvey Norman Property Executives, collaborators and LFRA Members ADCO Construction, Leffler Simes Architects, Norman Global Projects, Transact Capital, Retailers as well as customers keen to take full advantage of the weekend’s offerings.

TV presenter, Liz Cantor MCed the event, welcoming guests and remarking on the premium experience of the Centre and passion and excitement of the Retailers. A Pianist from the Queensland Conservatorium Grand Piano provided a superb sound coupled with sleek elegance to start the morning.

Councillor Steven Huang of the Macgregor Ward also spoke of the benefits the Centre brings to the local community. “It is such a wonderful asset for the local area, not only providing good shopping but also job opportunities and I very much look forward to coming back” Councillor Steven Huang said.

Harvey Norman Head of Asset Management Michael Read also spoke of the Centre’s prime location and its customer-focused amenity and sustainability initiatives.

“When Harvey Norman acquired the site of an old Schweppes Factory some 8 years ago, we had a vision to deliver a premium shopping destination, anchored by two of Australia’s leading Retailers in Harvey Norman and Domayne and complimented by a quality mix of nationally recognised retail brands,” Michael Read said.

Over the official opening weekend, customers enjoyed numerous activations facilitated by the Centre, including internet sensation Brooki Bakehouse cookies giveaways, Brisbane’s favourite Messina gelato, flower crown workshops, custom fortune cookies, face painters, balloon twisters, B105’s street team, live musical entertainment, and traditional Chinese lion and dragon dances.

NRL fans were treated to a meet and greet of the Brisbane Broncos captain Adam Reynolds and winger Corey Oates in Harvey Norman.

The Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital Foundation were a key part of the opening celebrations with a fresh market flower cart to raise profile and funds for the Foundations crucial work in saving lives and providing patient care in Brisbane’s largest hospital.

The ambitious development is the result of a shared vision and passionate collaboration between Harvey Norman, ADCO Constructions, Leffler Simes Architects, Norman Global Projects, and Transact Capital.

“Macgregor Homemaker sets a new standard of a premium home and lifestyle shopping destination, while serving all members of the community with a range of Retailers providing something for every home and every budget,” General Manager of Norman Global Projects, Ben Norman said.

Leffler Simes Architects were inspired to make the most of the Centre’s front facing façade to take full advantage of the 22 million vehicles passing along Kessels Road annually.

“With its innovative design and enhanced specifications, the Centre has truly elevated design standards, making Macgregor Homemaker a valuable addition to the thriving Kessel’s Road Large Format Retail strip,” Transact Capital Director, Damian Crocetti said.

“100% leased upon completion, the Centre boasts a high calibre retail mix perfectly complimenting Harvey Norman and Domayne while catering to one of the largest Main Trade Areas in Metropolitan Brisbane,” he continued.

Sustainability is also a significant aspect of the development with the Centre’s lighting and air conditioning powered by solar panels. The Centre also utilises its rooftop to capture rainwater to maintain the native plant beds and the flushing of the Centre’s amenities.

Harvey Norman appointed CBRE as Property Managers to continue the successful ongoing operation of Macgregor Homemaker, ensuring a premium shopping experience for customers and impactful marketing support for the Centre’s leading Retailers.
