Good360 and LFRA Partner to Drive Retail Donations and Sustainability Efforts

Good360 Australia, the country’s largest digital marketplace for donated retail goods, has joined forces with the Large Format Retail Association (LFRA) in a collaboration that will enable more Large Format Retailers to donate unused and unsold goods, extending critical support to Australians in need.

With a focus on advancing sustainability, the partnership aims to broaden Good360’s impact while showcasing the leadership role of the Large Format Retail (LFR) sector. Employing around 470,000 people and accounting for nearly 25% of the nation’s retail sales (Deep End Services 2024), LFR is poised to drive significant positive change through this initiative.

Since 2015, Good360 has connected over 42.4 million donated goods to people in need, preventing more than 7,300 tonnes of waste. Working with a network of over 600 retail and business partners, it distributes unsold goods through more than 4,500 charities and disadvantaged schools across the nation. This creates a “Circle of Good” that reduces waste but also promotes profitability and builds stronger and more resilient communities.

Good360 Australia Founder and Managing Director, Alison Covington AM, said, “We are thrilled to partner with the LFRA, and excited about the potential of this partnership to make a real difference. By working together, we can help build a more efficient and sustainable retail sector, promote the shift to a more circular economy, and help maximise positive impact in our communities.

“Research by Deloitte Access Economics, commissioned by Good360, shows that each year in Australia more than $2.5 billion worth of unsold household goods are wasted. Circular models can reduce waste and lower costs, while benefiting people and our planet.

“Retailers, especially in the Large Format Retail sector, have a real opportunity to embrace this change and enhance their ESG impact, and it makes financial sense to do so.

“We look forward to working closely with the LFRA and its members.”

LFRA CEO Philippa Kelly, said, “We are delighted to join Good360 Australia as a Supporting Partner.  Through this partnership, we can raise awareness of these issues, as well as the opportunities and benefits for retailers in donating excess stock.

“LFRA members will gain access to Good360’s comprehensive systems and networks, simplifying the process of donating surplus goods and amplifying their social and environmental impact. Together, we can drive meaningful change and help set the standard for excess inventory management.”

EveryOne Day, Good360’s annual, national fundraising campaign on 17 October is a crucial part of their efforts to reduce need and waste. Every $1 raised helps deliver $20 worth of unsold brand new goods from retailers to people in need. Good360 is excited to have Harvey Norman on board as the major partner, alongside the support of other leading retailers and brands.
