Circular business design workshop launches in Australia: Special offer for LFRA members

Are you looking to incorporate circularity into your business? Planet Ark’s Australian Circular Economy Hub (ACE HUB) now offers a solution.

In partnership with CLICK NL, a Netherlands-based organisation, the ACE HUB now brings the internationally recognised CIRCO circular economy business model methodology training to Australia.

More than 3,000 businesses globally have been trained using this highly specialised approach, with some 70% implementing new circular projects thanks to the CIRCO training.

Victorian-based businesses are first to have access to CIRCO in Australia thanks to support from the Circular Economy Innovation Fund as part of the Circular Economy Business Innovation Centre (CEBIC). CEBIC is delivered by Sustainability Victoria on behalf of the Victorian Government.

The first ‘Circular Business Design Workshop’ was held in Melbourne in early September, with a range of organisations represented, including Officeworks, Coles, Reece, APCO, K5 Furniture, Green My Plate, Purple Pear Pallets, Golf Ball Recycling, and Hume City Council.

The feedback from those participating was highly positive:

“I learned so much [about] the possibilities for our organisation and potential avenues that we had not previously considered.”

“We learned how we could further improve on the circularity of our business and challenge our preconceived ideas.”

“This is such a practical course – the training is so beneficial for the team and the business broadly.”

How the training works

Course participants work through applied processes over three days to rethink existing business models for products and services. The CIRCO methodology asks participants to examine existing value chains and identify new opportunities using circular business models and design strategies. By the end of the third day, participants identify a new circular business model, before pitching their product design and/or additional services and processes to the group.

The training enables companies, entrepreneurs and creative professionals to redesign products, services and business models for circularity, with a focus on retaining value in products. More information on the project launch in Australia is available here.

Planet Ark has partnered with qualified trainers to deliver CIRCO training across various sectors including the built environment, textiles, technology and packaging.

Australia-wide training

Planet Ark has signed a two-year contract with CLICK NL to expand the training nationally, aiming to reach other states and territories in 2025.

Specialist value chain training can also be tailored to examine a particular product under guidance from circular economy specialists. This is available on request of leading organisations.

All participants will have the added benefit of being part of the CIRCO Australia Alumni, supported to share implementation stories and collaborate on future projects.
