Bunnings Mangawhai, New Zealand opens doors to local community
Residents in Mangawhai can now access a wide range of home and lifestyle products close to home, with Bunnings opening the doors to its new $9 million store, creating 50 new jobs in the local community.
The new store which marks the 50th Bunnings site to open in New Zealand, spans more than 5,000 square metres, with features such as the main retail area, nursery, landscaping and bagged goods area, drive through timber trade yard, paint department and tool shop, plus over 150 car parks for customers.
Bunnings Store Manager, Sara Yates, said the team have been working flat out over the last few weeks to get the store ready for opening day.
“We are excited to open our doors and show the local community what we have to offer and to service locals who may have previously travelled to Bunnings stores in nearby towns. Now customers can grab everything they need off the shelf right here in Mangawhai,” Sara said.
Amongst the team are a number of skilled experts in areas such as timber, tools, paint, kitchens, plumbing, garden and outdoor living, who will be on hand to provide local residents with expert advice for all their D.I.Y. and project needs.
As part of the store opening celebrations, the team have provided hands on support and donations to local community organisations, including Te Whai Community Trust, Foodbank and Mangawhai Community Garden.
“Our team recently visited the Te Whai Community Trust. to build a new outdoor table, benches and an accessibility ramp for the play area. We also helped build new shelving and lay pavers for the Foodbank and spent some time pitching in at the Mangawhai community garden, where we built a new children’s playhouse and helped restore walking tracks.
“The team really enjoy getting out into the community and we look forward to providing more assistance to local community groups in the future,” Sara said.
The new store also features a range of sustainability initiatives which will reduce the store’s environmental impact, such as LED lighting throughout and on-site water reuse.
